Common questions

How many zones can I create per location?
There is no hard limit on the number of zones per location. Most operations configure between 4 and 8 zones, but large event venues or multi-level garages can create as many as needed using the garage zone management system. Each zone is defined with a name, type (standard, VIP, EV, oversized, compact, or motorcycle), maximum capacity, and a free-text description for internal notes. Zones are created during the location onboarding wizard or added later from the admin dashboard. The only constraint is that each zone must have a unique name within its location to avoid confusion in the mobile app's zone picker. This flexible setup means your valet parking zone management scales with your operation as you grow.
Can different locations have different zone layouts?
Yes. Zones are configured independently per location, so every property can have a layout that matches its physical space. A downtown hotel might use VIP and compact zones, while a stadium event venue configures standard and oversized areas. Each location also has its own staging areas, PUDO zones, and key board configuration. When you add a new location through the onboarding wizard, you define its zones as part of the setup flow. There is no global template forced onto every site. That said, common configurations can be replicated quickly by mirroring an existing location's zone setup. This per-location flexibility is what makes ValeKit effective as parking lot occupancy software across hotels, restaurants, and event venues alike.
How does the digital key board work?
Key boards are configured with a row and column grid that mirrors your physical pegboard. For example, a 5-row by 20-column board gives you 100 individually addressable hooks. During check-in, the attendant assigns a hook number and ValeKit's key hook tracking software records which ticket is on which hook in real time. The dashboard shows a visual grid of all hooks: available, occupied, or in transit. You can search by ticket number or hook number to locate any key instantly. Multiple key boards can be configured per location if your operation uses more than one physical board. This eliminates the manual key searches that cost valet teams minutes per retrieval during busy shifts.
What triggers a capacity alert?
You set a capacity threshold per zone. For example, 90% of a 50-space standard zone triggers an alert at 45 vehicles. When occupancy reaches that threshold, managers receive a notification to activate overflow areas, redirect incoming vehicles to less-occupied zones, or temporarily close the zone to new assignments. Thresholds are configurable independently for each zone, so a small VIP area with 10 spots can alert at a different percentage than a large general lot. Capacity counts update in real time as vehicles are checked in and completed, ensuring alerts reflect the current state rather than stale data. This parking capacity management approach gives operators proactive control instead of reactive scrambling when lots fill up.
Can valets see zone availability from the mobile app?
Yes. Zone capacity and availability are visible in real time from the mobile app, so valets can make informed parking decisions on the spot without radioing the booth. The mobile app provides vehicle location tracking for valets, displaying each zone's current count against its maximum capacity, updated via Supabase Realtime subscriptions with near-instant latency. When working offline in an underground garage, the app shows the last-synced capacity data and updates it automatically once connectivity returns. Valets assigned to specific locations only see zones for their assigned sites, keeping the interface clean and preventing cross-location confusion in multi-property operations.

Every arrival. Every departure. Perfected.
